Letter Signed, "Bonaparte," to the Minister of War [Barthélemy Louis Joseph Schérer], in French, requesting temporary replacements for mathematician Gaspard Monge and artillery general Antoine-François Andréossy--who are away on other matters--so that the testing of incendiary cannonballs and hollow projectiles can proceed as quickly as possible. 1 page, 4to; faint marginal discoloration from prior matting, folds, markings in red pencil at upper left likely contemporary to letter.
